Boston Celtics forward Jonas Jerebko joins the growing club of people involved with the NBA to own an esports team.buy csgo cases He's bought out the LA Renegades and moved them to Detroit.
The Renegades have not had an easy year. After being founded in March 2015, they were accused of accusations of mismanagement leveled by other teams and Riot. This led to Renegades co-owner Chris Badawi being banned by Riot. From there, there was another ruling, alleging that Renegades had violated the Badawi ban, as well as handled its dealings with players and other teams poorly. For this, Badawi was given a lifetime ban from League of Legends, and Montecristo was given a year-long ban, forcing Renegades to sell their LCS squad. CS GO Skins The ban was not without its critics, with people saying that Riot was not transparent in their dealings. The organization had other teams, though - with squads in CS:GO and Halo, the team still had some value and it had been rumored that they were looking to sell. Enter Jerebko, who had been looking to invest in esports for the past six months. A lifetime CS:GO player himself, Jerebko is looking to rebuild the Renegades brand, hiring his own staff and keeping on the players. “It was the CS:GO team that made us want to buy Renegades at first, we would never have bought it without the opportunity to keep the team,” he said to Dot Esports. The players on the CS:GO squad were reportedly in talks with five different orgainzations, but decided to go with Jerebko because of one thing: authenticity. “It was mainly because Jonas just knew,” Chris Orfanellis, manager for Renegades said. “A lot of other teams have NBA figureheads, but I don’t think they would even know their own players or a lot about the game. Whereas Jonas knew all the players, he knew everything about what we need, what we do, how the game is played.” The CS:GO team has been moved from Australia to Detroit, MI to prepare for the upcoming ELEAGUE season 2. Previously, the team was staying at the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas - a temporary home they departed after week one of ELEAGUE. The Renegades also have a Call of Duty organization previously playing under the name Ground Zero, and are in the midst of fielding an Overwatch team. />We've reached out to Montecristo as well as Riot Games for comment on the sale and comment as to whether this new Renegades team would be allowed to compete in the LCS, should a League of Legends team be fielded. />We're looking forward to the future NBA rivalry between Jerebko, O'Neil and Rick Fox.
