are costly, especially when overtime service is required. Everyone wants to find


ways to reduce these two kinds of costs. To reduce the cost of elevator


maintenance , the first thing you have to do is to recognize what problem or


trouble has happened to elevator. Well, most elevator shutdowns are door


related, elevator works only when the door is completely closed, otherwise, it


will not run. And there are some door related problems as follows:

1. The door does not close all the time.

2. Door closed while the elevator does not move.

3. Elevator continues to open and close the doors but will not leave the


floor to answer a call.

4. The door closed but not completely closed.

In our daily life, with some basic observation skills, some simple problems


can be solved which may save you a lot for not calling your elevator service


provider. Please pay attention to the following method.

Regularly check the bottom of the door in the door sill for trash or debris.


Everything can drop to the door sill, such as pocket change, bottle caps, paper,


small screws wedged and so on. The door sill plays an important role in guiding


the bottom of the door to keep it from being pushed into the elevator shaft, and


guides fit inside a groove in the sill. The clearance in these grooves is so


nominal that very small pieces can lead to its jam, and then cause the door


close incompletely. Thus, without completely close, the elevator will not


run.

Regularly check the door reopening device. The devices that detect if an


object is in the door to keep the door from closing on a passage is available to


every elevator. These devices vary from elevators to elevators, some are


mechanical, some are electronic with infrared beams, and some even have a


combination of both. For those elevators who own mechanical door detector, if


something placed in the retracted position, it will be get stuck for it believes


that someone or something is obstructing the door. At the same ime, dirt in


infrared detector lenses will prevent the receiving unit to see the infrared


beam, so make sure the detector lenses are clean and out of dirt is


necessary.

Regularly check the stuck push buttons. Sometimes it is not the problem of


the elevaor door, but the push button. We know that the elevator will remains on


the floor with the doors open if the push button was stucked, but pushing it a


few times sometimes can release it. However, this is only a temporary fix, this


kind of trouble still need to professional repairing.

The above are all simple things we can do to maintain our elevators, but, be
